Xlendi Bay

Xlendi Bay is a picturesque beach in Gozo, surrounded by high cliffs and majestic views

Xlendi Bay is a rather small, but very attractive sandy beach in Xlendi on the southwest side of Gozo and it is popular with both locals and tourist on holiday in Malta. This charming sea inlet lies in a lush green valley and offers beautiful scenic walks and beautiful sunsets. To enjoy spectacular views, climb up the stairs to the top of the cliffs.

Xlendi Bay is perfect for young children as the beach is shallow, but the more adventurous bathers can snorkel around the cliff leading around the beach. Apart from for the small sandy beach, Xlendi Bay has several access points to the sea from flat rocks on the left hand side of the bay.  Even if Xlendi Bay is very popular thanks to its beauty, it is still quite undeveloped. Except for a few restaurants and blocks of flats, it has a relaxing and peaceful atmosphere, especially during the winter months. This picturesque bay lets you enjoy a day on the beach and have your lunch just on the seashore and then go back for a swim.

Really enjoyed the waters here at Xlendi, although we wouldn't want to swim close to the restaurants where the tiny sandy beach is. Find a place further along the inlet, there are plenty of ladders to get in & swim. Even a diving platform at the inlet mouth. Oh yes, there were lifeguards on duty, although they were situated closer to the restaurants at the base of the inlet rather than where most swimmers were (further out in the inlet).
