Les Troyes by Hector Berlioz will be screened as part of the Met Opera 2012-13 programme with a broadcast of the live performance on 5th January at 18:00 and an HD recorded screening on 23rd February at 17:00.

Les troyens, in English: The Trojans, is a French grand opera in five acts by Hector Berlioz. During the Met Opera 2012-13 we will see Francesca Zambello’s acclaimed 2003 production of Berlioz’s Trojan War epic returning to the Met for its first revival.

Marcello Giordani plays the leading part of the opera, the hero Aeneas who escapes the devestations of Troy to start a new life in North Africa. Susan Graham plays the role of Dido, the heartbroken but noble Queen of Carthage while Deborah Voigt reprises the role of the cursed Trojan prophetess Cassandra.
