Classical Ensemble

Great classical music performed with a soprano

Classical Ensemble is a beautiful concert held on 14th and 28th June, 12th and 26th July, 2nd and 16th and 30th August all at 13.00. Visit the St. Catherine Church to enjoy great music by composers that include Bach, Handel, Vivaldi, Mozart, Brahms, Bizet and the Maltese composer Camilleri.

All this will be performed by the Classical Ensemble, that includes four excellent soloists of the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra: Ana Martinez Tos, Inmuculada Munoz Salguero (violins), Mattew Fenech (viola), Lucie Kucharova (cello) together with the great opera singer Andriana Yordanova.

The Classical Ensemble concert promises to be an exquisite event, to be held in the beautiful baroque church of St. Catherine in Valletta, which makes the perfect venue for classical performances. This church was built in 1576 for the Italian Knights of St. John and it adjoins the Auberge d'Italie.

I went to this concert purely by chance, during a Christmas holiday to Malta. What a treat to hear Andriana Yordanova for the first time. Her voice is breathtaking! I hope it won't be the last time I hear her - or indeed my last visit to Malta - it's a wonderful country! Thank you.
