Comedy of Errors
Shakespeare's masterpiece brought to lifeThere are two sets of twins that had been separated at birth living somwehere in just one city. The confusion that the multiple identities create is incredible. And while Antipholus of Syracuse and his servant Dromio search for their brothers, they arrive in an alien territory - a buzzing metropolis which is a place of wonderment and terror, where baffling things happen all the time. The strangers are all the time recognised by people in the city, and so they start questioning their identity as the turmoil increases. At the same time, Aegeon, father to one pair of twins, is captured and is sentenced to death. Shakespeare’s fast paced comedy is recreated in a contemporary setting where the famous Lenny Henry plays Antipholus of Syracuse. This play will be held by National Theatre Live at the St. James Cavalier theatre in Valletta on the first of March at 20:00, and is repeated as an Encore on the 10th, 23rd and 31st of the same month. |
