Travelling Light
Travelling Light - becoming famous from Eastern EuropeTravelling Light is an incredibly funny tribute to immigrants from Eastern Europeans who became major players in Hollywood’s golden age. The famous and award-winning artist Antony Sher starrs as Jacob - a timber merchant whose enthusiasm for cinematography leads him to achieve great success far beyond the remote village he was brought up in. Around 1900, young Motl Mendl is enchanted by the moving silent images on his dad’s cinematograph. Supported by Jacob and inspired by a girl who helped him, he stumbled on a revolutionary way of story-telling. Forty years later, Motl, who became the famous Maurice Montgomery, looks back on his life and realizes the cost of making his dreams come true. Travelling Light is directed by Nicholas Hytner from the National Theatre and will be held live on the 9th of February 2012 at the St. James Cavalier in Valletta, and repeated as an Encore on the 17th and 26th of February and the 16th of March. |
