In Guardia Parade, discover the history of Malta

Go back to the times of the Knights and inspect the garrison

The In Guardia Parade is a re-enactment event, portraying an authentic event that used to take place regularly inside Fort St. Elmo in Valletta. During the show you can see the inspection of the fort and its garrison by the Grand Bailiff of the Order of the Knights of St. John, who was in charge of military affairs.

During the In Guardia Paradem, the soldiers and knights of the fort’s garrison, around 70 of them, are wearing their finest uniforms, while they perform a military drill to demonstrate to the Grand Bailiff the garrison’s state of readiness in case of a military threat.

You can only explore Fort St. Elmo before the In Guardia Parade starts, so we advise to enter the fort well before the show starts, so that you will have time to explore this site of great historical importance.
