The Land Rover Malta Marathon of 2012

Malta marathon held from Mdina to Sliema

The Land Rover Malta Marathon was held today on Sunday the 26th of February, with a record participation of more than 2,500 athletes. There were three races: a full marathon, a half marathon and a walkathon, with the marathon covering a distance of 42.2km from Mdina all the way to Sliema.

The Land Rover Malta Marathon 2012 was dedicated to John Walsh, one of the co-founders of the race, who was also a member of the organising committee until his untimely death last year. Besides the usual trophies and awards being given to the winners, cash prizes were also given out to the faster runners.

There were a record number of Maltese runners when compared to the previous editions of the Malta Marathon, and the race included participants from the UK, Germany, Italy, France, Japan and the US amongst others.
