Golden Bay

Golden Bay is a very popular sandy beach attracting many people for swimming, snorkelling and BBQs

Golden Bay is a beautiful sandy beach set within a cliff face in North West Malta and is the first and most popular sandy beach in Malta together in a chain of beaches together with Ghajn Tuffieha and Gnejna. Golden Bay is located along unspoiled and undeveloped countryside and the sand at Golden Bay is light cream colour with fine clean corns. The blue sea and the cliffs surrounding the bay provide excellent snorkelling. Golden Bay has a large beach, beautiful waters and facilities, making it the second popular beach in Malta after Mellieha Bay.

Golden Bay is also a favourite spot for beach barbeques and parties, complete with one of the most spectacular sunsets in Malta, which only increases the popularity of this crowded beach. Still, the large width and depth to the beach leaves plenty of space for everyone and even provides comfortable space for all the beach sport activities going on. Radisson Golden Sands Hotel stands grandly and dominating on the cliff-top and provides fine dining facilities. When the red flag is signalled bathing is limited to shallow waters due to underwater currents from the North West winds.

The beach is easily accessible by the car park just by the sand and the bus stop is only 5 min away. Golden Bay has obtained the Beach of Quality status.

It's nice sandy beach an wasn't too crowded when we went there. There are a few places on the beach were you can eat, and there is a water-sports place too, so pretty convenient.

If you get bored of laying in the sand you can explore the neighboring hills and appreciate the beautiful scenery from above, or just hop on Charlie's speedboat and take off to Popeye village or the Blue Lagoon.

As it's a little remote it's best to go there with some time on your hands unless you drive. The times I went there I was always a little late as I like to sleep long, and I was sorry to have to leave before I would have had my fill of the place!

Probably the most popular beach in Malta. nice restaurant overlooking the bay and snack bar literally on the beach. Just bring your swim suit and enjoy!
