Gnejna Bay

Gnejna bay is one of the most spectacular beaches in Malta, attracting many swimmers and divers to enjoy the crystal clear waters

Gnejna Bay is a popular sandy  beach located in the North West of Malta, within the limits of Mgarr. Gnejna Bay is the third sandy beach of the chain of beaches in the area, together with Golden Bay and Ghajn Tuffieha, however Gnejna is smaller, less crowded and offers the option to choose a quieter spot. The crystal clear, unspoiled waters at Gnejna Bay offer very good snorkelling opportunities and are popular with the occasional nude bathers. If the orange sand at Gnejna Bay is not for you there is a stretch of flat and pretty limestone rock on the right side of the sandy beach, perfect for sunbathing.

Gnejna Bay is remarkable for its unusual clay slopes and limestone cliffs, which offer the rough and risky walk down to the beach coming from Ghajn Tuffieha. The rightmost and hidden part of the bay is a nudist’s hideaway, even though this is an illegal practice in Malta it still occurs in that part.

As you can reach the sandy beach with your car, during the summer it is really popular for night barbeques, so make sure you get there early enough, first come first served!
