This year’s edition of the Malta book fair presented new publications hot from the press
The 2011 Malta book fair was held at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta between Wednesday, the 9th November and Sunday the 13th November. The 24th edition of the book fair, organized by the National Book Council attracted thousands of visitors who have reading as one of their favourite pastimes.
The Malta Book fair took the opportunity to promote local and foreign publications – bringing various authors and recent publications to the attention of the public. There were a number of cultural activities that attracted further book lovers to the beautiful Sacra Infermeria Hall in the Mediterranean Conference Centre.
The Malta book fair also attracted a good number of students and children who are continuously encouraged to read more books to enhance their knowledge. In fact, around 20,000 enthusiastic readers attended this year’s edition! The success of the fair was even greater when one considers that the paper book is continually being replaced by online reading materials. Both the publishers and the fair organizers were quite satisfied with the turnout and they’re already looking forward for next year’s 25th edition!
