Malta International Firework Festival 2011: spectacular fireworks and views

Great atmosphere, amazing fireworks and simply a success

The much awaited 10th edition if the Malta International Fireworks Festival was held on Friday 29th April and Saturday 30th of April in the beautiful Grand Harbour, Valletta and gathered large crowds from all over Malta.

The Malta International Fireworks Festival was organized by the Parliamentary Secretariat for Tourism, the Environment and Culture and the Malta Tourism Authority in celebrations of Malta’s entry to the European Union.

This year, three foreign companies participated in the festival to make the show even better: Pyrovision Ltd from Austria; Parente Firework Group from Italy and Venefuego Fireworks C.A from Venezuela. The three companies put on a spectacular Pyromusical show with fantastic fireworks displayed together with synchronized music.

Also, a selection of Maltese Firework factories displayed fantastic fireworks and took part in the competitions. The jury as well as the public (through SMS votes) had to elect the winner of the best Firework Display that was awarded with a trophy. The winner of this year’s Malta International Fireworks Festival was the Lourdes Fireworks Factory of Qrendi. Our Lady of Consolation of Gudja placed second, followed by La Stella Fireworks Factory of Gudja placing third.

The pictures shown on Malta.com were taken on Friday the 29th from Sliema opposite Valletta and from King John V Gardens in Floriana, just above the Valletta Seafront. In the pictures you can see the Fort San Angelo of Vittoriosa (Birgu), the fort Saint Michael of Senglea as well as Kalkara in the background.
