Written by Michael Frayn, Noises Off is a blend of all the classic comedy elements, namely mistaken identity, door slamming and effortless timing.  Noises Off is perhaps one of the most well-known of British Comedies. Since 1982, when it won the ‘London Evening Standard Award’ for Best Comedy, it has been performed by countless theatre companies all over the world. Even with all of this exposure,Noises Off is a play that audiences, never get tired of seeing.

This utterly witty farce follows the on-and off-stage antics of a touring company as they stumble from dress rehearsal to disastrous last night of the comedy. Noises off is a tale of theatrical disasters which explores : all that can can go wrong, with unremembered lines, useless props and an eventual descent into chaos.

Masquerade’s production of this award-winning comedy classic is being directed by Anthony Bezzina.  Performing in this superb farce are top actors – Alan Paris, Polly March,  Jo Caruana, Stephen Oliver, and Victor Debono.  Though this is a comedy full of fun, it is also a tough test for the director and actors as the performers make their exits from one play, only to find themselves making their entrances into the other and back again.  Indeed amid such comic confusion, the energy, timing and breath taking pace and precision of the actors is vital.

Noises off is an event where one is made to appreciate the intricacies of stagecraft while also laughing out loud at theatre itself. Masquerade is all geared up with preparations for Noises Off and the audiences are guaranteed one of the funniest nights out, this upcoming Masqueade production is a must-see production for all those who are up for good laugh and for those who believe that it never hurts to laugh.
